Befrienders help African Orphanage

BefriendersMembers of our Befriending Group, who meet on a weekly basis at the Watford Town Seven Day Adventist Church, have utilised their amazing sewing and dressmaking skills to produce some incredible items of clothing for an orphanage in the small village of Gilgil in Kenya.

Items include colourful pinafore dresses, full dresses with intricate detailing, skirts of varying styles as well as some gorgeous bolero jackets.  Both materials and the shipping costs have been donated.  Mrs Chisholm who has been visiting Gilgil each year since 2004 said “the people have been displaced by war in the region and have nothing.”

As well as dressmaking, the talented and generous group (who are mainly 70 or more) also produce some very creative designs in crochet centre pieces and intricate embroidery work.
