Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Storm Appeal

Over Christmas a storm caused severe damage to the Caribbean Islands of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Lives were lost, arable land flooded, property destroyed and roads damaged.

Mrs Doris Charles, Minister Counsellor at the High Commission for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the UK, advised us that 222 people have been displaced and are now living in shelters across the Islands, 13 people are dead and 4 people are still missing.

There is an urgent appeal for donations to help those affected and to purchase Hospital equipment. The Watford African Caribbean Association is collecting donations at our Annual Festival Lunch at the Holywell Community Centre, Chaffinch Lane, Tolpits Lane, Watford, WD18 9QD on Tuesday 21st January 2014. Alternatively, you may contact Mrs Charles on 0207 460 2588 or visit the High Commission’s facebook page here.
