Similar to other projects, the Carers Support Group started as a voluntary concern which later developed and became more far reaching with the assistance of fundraising and grants. The key aims of the service are:
- To raise awareness of the issues that affect carers
- To recognise the value and skills of carers
- To provide a point of access to Social Services
- To provide an advocacy and referral service subject to legal and regulatory considerations
WACAS supports more that 150 carers with physical, mental or emotional issues in West Herts. We offer home visits, regular telephone calls, respite breaks and new skills training to reduce the stress and fatigue of Carers. We also help with users with specific needs such as disability badges, wheel chairs, stair lifts and other adjustments to make them live life with greater independence.
