In response to calls from our membership and the public, WACAS created and developed an international disaster relief service which aims to:
- Provide a mechanism to address the needs of survivors of natural disasters in Africa and the Caribbean
- Co-ordinate the collection of money and associated fundraising in the United Kingdom
- Identify appropriate international bodies and communities to be supported
- Facilitate the efficient distribution of funds raised in areas such as food, clean water, medicine, health, economic development, education and the environment
As a charity, we are responsible for ensuring that all donations get sent to the right place, securely and for the right purpose. WACAS performs rigorous vetting and due diligence checks prior to distributing monies in order to ensure transparency and accountability. Over the years, the generosity of WACAS supporters has raised significant amounts of money for hurricane survivors in St Kitts & Nevis, Grenada, Jamaica and elsewhere. Every £1 raised has had a positive and long-lasting social impact.
