Happy Birthday Enid

Enids BirthdayFriends and family from across Hertfordshire gathered at the Holywell Community Centre last week to celebrate the 70th Birthday of Enid – staff member, volunteer and former trustee of the Watford African Caribbean Association.  Guests enjoyed a sumptuous Caribbean lunch, West Indian music and exchanged heartfelt tributes about one of the most generous, caring, selfless and active members of the Watford community.

Rather than receive cards, gifts and flowers, Enid requested donations for the benefit of three local charities close to her heart. More than £450 was raised on the day, which will be shared among Macmillan Cancer Support, The Peace Hospice and Alzheimer’s Research.

Thank You

A poem by Enid

Everyday a family is affected by Cancer or Dementia
Diseases which cause much pain and distress
Their needs are often met by a number of charities
Who work hard in helping to relieve the Carers of various problems
Their dedication and hard work needs to be commended
Today with the help of my family and friends
I can add to helping to raise the much needed funds to carry on caring
Many, many thanks to those who gave generously to help me
To fulfil my wishes for my 70th Birthday
In donating to the Peace Hospice, Macmillan Nurses and to Alzheimer’s Society
