Over the years, WACAS has built a media collection about Africa and the Caribbean. WACAS believes that this is an important and essential resource to preserve the communities culture and heritage. The collection appeals to all age groups and covers diverse subject matters – ranging from Jamaica’s involvement in the Air Force in World War II to a series of tales and short stories about the West Indies.

In the library, we have:

  • Magazines, Newspapers, Prints and Drawings
  • Films, Music, Pottery, Fabrics and Photo Galleries
  • Books, Poetry and Artwork
  • First-hand accounts of people originally from Africa and the Caribbean settling in Watford during the Windrush era

The library service is accessible by members for free, however, the general public are welcome to come to the events and exhibitions we run to see a selection of items from the library.
